Biola University
Biola University, founded in 1908 in Los Angeles, moved to La Mirada and now enrolls more than 5,300 students across eight schools offering over 250 academic programs.
Biola University began as the Bible Institute of Los Angeles in 1908, founded by Lyman Stewart and Rev. T.C. Horton to provide Christian education and theological training. The institution grew from a two-year institute to a comprehensive university, establishing its college of arts and sciences, adding Talbot Theological Seminary in 1952, and acquiring the Rosemead Graduate School of Professional Psychology in 1977.
In 1981, the institution formally became Biola University and is now located on a La Mirada campus at 13800 Biola Avenue. The university serves over 5,300 students across eight schools and is recognized for integrating faith throughout its academic programs and community. The Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts, ranked among the top film schools in the nation, is one of its distinctive programs.
